How we started
John Svedese created the first issue of Basement Magazine to showcase his own art. John is a trained comic book illustrator and was looking to send a portfolio around for submissions, so the first issue was born. With a background in art and magazine layout, it took John no time to create the basic template of the magazine. Now published by Surge Media LLC and open to all artists, Basement Magazine has transformed into a wonderful gallery of unique art.

Basement Magazine features the art of talented people showcasing unique art of all different mediums. Each issue contains the art of five artists and features articles about the industry and different techniques for various tools. Distributed globally, everyone on the planet has the possibility of seeing a copy of Basement.
